"2010 Policy Forum in Asia on International Finance and Regional Integration"
Hitotsubashi University and the Renmin University of China held an Asian Economic Policy Forum in Tokyo on Friday, April 30, 2010. The underlying theme of the Forum was the international finance and regional integration after the global financial crisis from both policy and regional perspectives. At the Forum, scholars from both Universities as well as those from Sungkyunkwan University of Korea and the National Chengchi University of Taiwan were invited to give keynote lectures, presentations, and comments on the issues which the respective Universities consider important.
The Forum was aimed at discussing policy issues related to the response to the global financial crisis and its impact on Asian economies. It was also discuss policies, including fiscal, monetary and structural policies, to strengthen regional economies in Asia against global financial and economic crises in the future. Such policies, for example, may include strengthening regional cooperation as well as establishing an economic integration in Asia.
At the Forum, there was plenary session in the morning, in which the scholars from four universities (Hitotsubashi, Renmin, Sungkyunkwan, and National Chengchi) gave keynote lectures on the general theme from their respective viewpoints. Participants joined us and had effective discussion. In the afternoon, there was a special session, which was more academically oriented. The scholars from Hitotsubashi and Renmin Universities presented papers on the more focused topics related to the general theme. Then, those from Sungkyunkwan and National Chengchi Universities gave comments on these papers. We believed that we had invaluable conference for the Asian Future.
